A Memorandum of understanding was signed between the Department of the Supreme Court and the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Programme Office in Nur-Sultan

Zhakyp Asanov, a Chairman of the Supreme Court of Kazakhstan, held a meeting with Dr. Frobarth Volker, the Head of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe Programme Office in Nur-Sultan.

During Mr.Asanov’s speech, there was emphasized the importance of the high pace of the long-term friendly relations of the Supreme Court with the OSCE Program Office and the successful implementation of a number of projects for the development of the judicial system. Aspects of the ongoing modernization and strategic guidelines aimed at increasing confidence in the courts, including projects to improve the quality of justice, are noted.

He stressed the focus of the new joint project on improving the efficiency of the justice system in Kazakhstan. Calling it a priority, Zhakyp Asanov expressed confidence that the project will improve judicial administration and the quality of judicial services, update the system for evaluating the work of judges, introduce new innovative practices for training judges and develop an IT analytical system to assess the uniformity of judicial practice in 3 years. "All the activities of the project are aimed at strengthening the rule of law, promoting openness and transparency of the justice system," he said.

Moreover, he congratulated Dr. Frobarth on his election by the plenary session of the Supreme Court to the International Council.

Dr. Frobarth, on his own behalf, expressed gratitude for the given confidence. In his opinion, the intensive implementation of the project activities will require not only financial resources, but especially human resources. This is possible, as he believes, in close cooperation of the Office with the Supreme Court.

At the end of the meeting, Nail Akhmetzakirov, a Head of Department of the Supreme Court, and Dr. Frobarth signed the Memorandum of understanding.
