"The Corner of the Mediator" was opened in the PSC of Ust-Kamenogorsk

In the Corner of the Mediator the mediators of the region will be constantly on duty, information stands about the benefits of conciliation procedures are posted. Visitors to the PSC can apply for and receive explanations from a professional mediator for free.

Damir Abdugaliyev, chairman of the board of civil cases of the East Kazakhstan regional court, Yeldos Zhumaksanov, chairman of the branch of the Union of Judges, Elizaveta Abdrakhmanova, director of the Shanyrak Mediation Center, mediators and media representatives took part in the opening ceremony.

Opening the event, D. Abdugaliev noted that the use of mediation contributes to strengthening partnerships, makes it possible to avoid a lengthy and expensive legal process, and preserves the confidentiality of business information.

"The algorithm of the work looks like this: a person comes to the PSC in order to obtain advice. Here the mediator explains the advantages of mediation, alternative dispute resolution, so this Corner will be convenient for citizens, "D.Abdugaliyev believes.

In turn, E. Zhumaksanov noted that this action is designed to expand the application of mediation procedures. According to him, daily this large PSC in the city is visited by about two thousand people. At the same time, it is in this PSC that citizens mostly send documents to the court through the "Judicial office" service. The activity of the mediator in the PSC, Y. Zhumaksanov believes, will provide more information to visitors about the possibility of resolving the dispute through mediation. "The mediator serves as an informant, explaining the norms and procedures of mediation, but does not advice and does not conduct mediation itself," he said.

It is also planned to open a similar Corner in the PSC of Semey.

For today, mediation offices are open in all courts and Friendship Houses of the region. They employ 174 non-professional and 49 professional mediators.
