Chief editors of mass media got acquainted with the work of the Situation Center of the Supreme Court

Today the head of the Department for provision of courts’ activity under the Supreme Court Nurserik Sharipov met with the members of the Chief Editors Club. The judges of the Supreme Court Larissa Shepeleva and Denis Shipp, the responsible employees of the Department also took part in the event.

During the meeting, the representatives of the media were familiarized with the work of the Situation Center of the judicial bodies. Totally, about 25 editors of mass media took part in the event.

Opening the event, N. Sharipov noted that the Supreme Court makes great efforts to develop "electronic justice". This is a direct instruction of the Head of State given at the VII Congress of the Republic's judges. New technologies make the work of courts accessible and transparent for citizens of the country and increase the effectiveness of justice. "Finally all of this affects the increase of confidence in the judicial system of the country. This is one of the important factors of successful work of courts and ensuring the rule of law." N.Sharipov highlighted.

The Situation Center allows monitoring of 370 vessels of the Republic in 700 indicators in real time. It controls the work of the chancery of the courts in the part of registering correspondence, automatic distribution of cases and materials, monitors the operability of all server components and the use of the audio and video recording system. In addition, it responds to cyberthreats and monitors promptly the situation in all court rooms of the republic in a timely manner.

During the meeting, the leaders of the media clearly demonstrated the capabilities of the Situation Center for the collection and analysis of judicial statistics, including the types of crimes, the specifics of sentences and decisions separately in criminal, civil and administrative proceedings. It was particularly noted that the Situation Center is a solution that accumulates the capabilities of all electronic services of courts.

Further within the framework of the event, the members of the Chief Editors Club were presented the new bills having a special significance for further development of law in our country. Thus, the judge of the Supreme Court L. Shepeleva spoke about the key goals and tasks of reforming the criminal process and improving other aspects of law enforcement activities. ‘The priority direction of the reform is the expansion of the fields of judicial control in the sanctioning of actions involving the restriction of the constitutional rights of citizens including the sanctioning of covert investigative actions. The court will fully perform the functions of reviewing and resolving all the issues that the prosecution and defense put before it during the pre-trial investigation." the judge said.

In his speech, the judge of the Supreme Court D. Schipp informed about the peculiarities of the draft Law "On Legal Assistance" being developed by the Ministry of Justice. He noted the importance of improving the provision of legal services in order to ensure their quality and accessibility including the socially unprotected layers of the population as well as those living in remote areas.

During the meeting all questions of media editors were answered. The participants of the event noted the importance of holding such meetings to establish a dialogue between the judiciary and the media.
